Local school Westholme have become the latest organisation to support the Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival by becoming sponsors for the Secret Garden event on Friday 24 June.
The local independent school is sponsoring the jazz music at the event which brings the talented New Orleans and Blues style band Tipitina to the Cathedral for an evening of music, flowers, lighting and cocktails.
Westholme School has enjoyed over 90 years of success in Blackburn and pupils travel to the school from throughout Lancashire and from as far afield as Greater Manchester and the Fylde. Many Westholme pupils have also been choristers at the Cathedral over the years and the close connection with the Cathedral continues with this support.
Mrs Vivienne Davenport, Commercial Director at Westholme, said, “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Secret Garden event as part of the Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival. Westholme pupils and staff have enjoyed a very fruitful working relationship with the Cathedral over many years and I am glad we are able to show our support for what promises to be a fantastic event.”
Lowri Cope, one of the Flower Festival organisers, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Westholme as sponsors of the Festival who will help bring our unique jazz event to life. We have been overwhelmed by the support of businesses and organisations from across the region. The Secret Garden event, will allow people to enjoy the Flower Festival in a completely new way set in the magnificent setting of the Cathedral. We believe it is a first for any flower festival on this scale.”
The Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival takes place from 23rd to 26th June 2016 and is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across the UK to the town over the four-day extravaganza.
