Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival has announced Blackburn Market has joined as a sponsor of the landmark event in 2016.
Blackburn Market, which is based at the heart of the Town Centre, has a rich history and the original markets were held in the grounds of the original parish church, the site of the Cathedral today. Having relocated to a new state of the art modern space a few years ago, the market still enjoys the benefits of a traditional market but with the convenience that today’s shoppers have come to expect.
David Smith, Commercial Manger of Blackburn Market, said; “We are delighted to be supporting the Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival in 2016 and are expecting thousands of people to enjoy visiting the event as well as shopping in the market. We have been attracting growing numbers of coach trips to Blackburn Market and these kind of events give people from all over the UK the opportunity to discover our market as part of their visit to the town.
“We are hoping to stage sampler stalls from the market during the event, to give visitors an extra taste of what Blackburn Market has to offer.”
Lowri Cope, one of the Flower Festival Organisers, said, “Blackburn Market are neighbours of the Cathedral and as major attractions in the town, we both bring many visitors to Blackburn. The support of the market will enable us to attract even more visitors in 2016 and bring new people from a wide area to both the market and the festival.”
The Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival takes place from the 23rd to 26th June 2016. Ticket sales and more information are available from the website www.blackburncathedralflowerfestival.com.
