I Fagiolini in Concert – Tickets £20 – Very Limited
Saturday, 25th June, 2016 - 7:30 pm
The dynamic and contemporary solo-voice ensemble I Fagiolini has been announced to feature in a spectacular concert at the Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival.
The group which won the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Ensemble Prize in 2005 will bring their unique style to the concert on 25th June 2016 which will be hosted amongst the splendour of the flower displays that are planned at this landmark event. Tickets are strictly limited for the concert which is expected to be a sell-out.
I Fagiolini was founded in 1986 at Oxford University. In 1988 the group won the UK Early Music Network’s Young Artists’ Competition and has since released fifteen CDs and two DVDs. It gives about 50 concerts a year from the BBC Proms and major European festivals to further afield such as the USA, Far East and both ends of Africa. Its unusual name has been misspelt, mispronounced and misunderstood throughout the world.
Samuel Hudson, Director of Music at Blackburn Cathedral, said, “We are thrilled that I Fagiolini are coming to Blackburn Cathedral for what is set to be an incredible experience for concert goers. The combination of the group’s wonderfully immersive approach to performance alongside the ambitious floral displays that are set to fill the cathedral are sure to give us an evening to remember. With a group of this calibre, tickets are expected to be in very high demand – not only that but availability of tickets will be limited due to space constraints during the festival. So, early booking is advised!”
The concert entitled “La France et les fleurs” will feature music by Poulenc, Saint-Saëns and Fauré.
